Before I Forget

Top: Glamorous (c/o), Shorts: Topshop (sale/DIY), Belt: Primark

For FOREVER I have wanted a decent pair of denim shorts, but have never found a pair that really suited me. So I thought I'd go ahead and make my own pair! I spotted these pink acid wash long shorts in the Topshop sale during a late night peruse, LOVED the colour and their long line as it meant I could make them into high waisted shorts! I ended up cutting the length several times, unsure of how daring I was willing to be! But I think I'm happy with my final decision, and to finish them off I frayed the edges simply using a sharp bread knife (please be careful if you use this method yourself)!

I paired the shorts with my beloved floral skull vest from Glamorous and this tan woven belt, and I'm thinking its quite a good festival look!!

When looking for inspiration for creating my DIY shorts I came across so many great ideas, so I thought I'd share them with you guys!

Have you attempted your own DIY shorts? I'd love to know what designs you've put together, would love some more inspiration!

She's Always A Woman

Playsuit: H&M (sale), Cross Ring: Marie Loves Jewellery, Peace Ring: Miss Selfridge (sale)

I've definitely had some fun in the H&M sale the past couple days, I feel like I'm on some sort of role this year - normally I find nothing when it comes to sale season! I'll be sure to keep sharing my bargain goodies with you!

I got myself a tripod, but its not very tall, so I'm having issues with using it to take outfit posts. I thought it would make stuff easier but I it was a huge faff! Maybe it'll be easier when the sun comes out and I can take some photos outside? I've just been wanting to change up the style of my outfit posts a bit but its a lot harder work than I originally imagined! Anyone got any tips for me? I'd really appreciate it!

Just want to say thank you to all those who entered my MAC Studio Fix Fluid giveaway and well done to Kelly Marie, my lovely winner! I'm already cooking up ideas for my next giveaway, so hopefully it won't be too long til I can get it up and running!

Something In The Way

Another sale triumph with this cutsie lace, embroidered blouse from River Island. One of my favourite ever staple items is the white blouse, but I love the little details on this blouse which makes it so much more fun. Also, I love the shape, it's so flattering! So, feeling smug once again with my sale finds!

So, its been a long week in London, and I'm excited to go home tomorrow and see the little Mimi! But have seriously loved getting to see my family when I haven't been working. I got to meet my cousin's new born baby girl and honest to god, she is the cutest little baby girl ever. Felt very emotional (and a tad broody) when I got to hold her!

Anyway, hope you loves have a good weekend!

Keep Your Head Up

Floral Blouse: H&M, Blazer: Primark, Heart Ring: Marie Loves Jewellery

So, tomorrow I take my first baby steps into the real world; I will be starting an internship in which I will be helping to create a new fashion and beauty website. Today, I will be travelling down to London to stay with family who live near by to the office I'll be working in. I have mixed feelings about the position, in terms of being nervous that I won't fulfil the role and so on. Also, I'm desperate for it to turn into full time, paid work, which I am led to believe their is a high possibility. I think others who have just finished uni can relate to that feeling of being stuck in a rut with not much to do now we've finished! I'm missing that feeling of purpose plus not living with my boyfriend is even harder than I imagined.

I will be sure to keep you all updated with my journey into the world of work. Its so hard to find anything out there at the moment, so I suppose I am just grateful for this opportunity to prove myself and put what I have learnt into action!

Who else is going to be interning this summer? I'd love to hear about your experiences!

Ban The Bomb

I think this has got to be one of my favourite nail art designs so far! I'm so obsessed with peace signs, crosses and skulls on everything recently, so when I found these Peace Sign Nail Decals on ebay, I HAD to buy them.

Anyone who has used nail decals before will know how simple they are to apply, I was actually shocked at how easy it was! I started off by painting my nails with generous coats of Collection 2000's Hot Looks in Electric Dreams. After that had dried completely, I cut out circular shapes around the peace signs and dropped them in a small tub of water just before applying each one. After the decal had been sitting in the water for about 30 secs or so I picked them out of the water and the decal slid straight off the paper back.

Th positioning is easy as once you've placed them onto your nails they are easy to move and slide about until they're in the right position. For this reason I prefer them to nail stickers, as once you place them on the nail its usually almost impossible to move them again. Then I allowed them to completely dry and painted over with clear nail varnish to secure.

What do you think of my ban the bomb nails? Have you used nail decals before?

Quick fix: the Sleek Hair Bun

I struggle creating the large, rounded bun effect on my own head quite often. I love the look so much, and have been able to create lovely looking buns on others, but when it comes to myself its a bit of a dud. Enter Hair Trade's Sleek Hair Bun!

This beautiful, glossy bun has two simple glides attached inside of the bun, making attaching it a easy and quick process. I began by tying my hair up into my usual bun, then styling as I usually would by letting some loose waves fall around my face, then loosened up the hair around my bun and back combed to allow the glides something stable to hold on to. You then sit the sleek hair bun over your natural bun and slide the glides in underneath. With the braided bun like mine, it makes for a great laid back bohemian look.

You could also try a more pulled back and tidy look, like Kim Kardashian often wears. She often wears her hair all pulled back with some volume created in the front.

Overall, I love this bun! I think its such a fantastically easy way to create a beautiful look in a matter of minutes, and I'm really excited to try out some different looks with it! I will be sure to share them with you all ;)
